Accounts Senior

A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Bournemouth is looking to recruit an ambitious Accounts Senior to join its friendly and supportive team.
This opportunity is ideally suited to a part-qualified ACA or ACCA professional who is actively studying and looking to build a long-term career within practice. The firm is keen to invest in someone who wants to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, and progress within the business.
Due to continued growth and an increasing client workload, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accounts and supporting the wider team, helping to provide stability while developing into a more senior position over time.
The Role
Working closely with Managers and Directors, you'll manage a varied workload across accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and client support for a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.

Preparing management accounts where required.

Completing bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.

Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance.

Liaising directly with clients, answering day-to-day accounting queries and building strong relationships.

Working with cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and CCH.

Supporting Managers with year-end accounts and wider client portfolio work.

Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:

A minimum of two to five years' experience within an accountancy practice (more experience welcomed).

Be ACA or ACCA part-qualified and actively studying.

Strong experience preparing accounts for a varied client base.

Experience with VAT returns and bookkeeping.

Good working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally CCH.

Confidence communicating directly with clients.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.

A genuine desire to progress within a growing accountancy practice.
