Accounts Senior

A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Bournemouth is looking to recruit an ambitious Accounts Senior to join its friendly and supportive team.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a part-qualified ACA or ACCA professional who is actively studying and looking to build a long-term career within practice. The firm is keen to invest in someone who wants to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to a varied client portfolio, and progress within the business.

Due to continued growth and an increasing client workload, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accounts and supporting the wider team, helping to provide stability while developing into a more senior position over time.

The Role

Working closely with Managers and Directors, you'll manage a varied workload across accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and client support for a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.

• Preparing management accounts where required.

• Completing bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.

• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

• Assisting with corporation tax and personal tax compliance.

• Liaising directly with clients, answering day-to-day accounting queries and building strong relationships.

• Working with cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and CCH.

• Supporting Managers with year-end accounts and wider client portfolio work.

• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of two to five years' experience within an accountancy practice (more experience welcomed).

• Be ACA or ACCA part-qualified and actively studying.

• Strong experience preparing accounts for a varied client base.

• Experience with VAT returns and bookkeeping.

• Good working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and ideally CCH.

• Confidence communicating directly with clients.

• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.

• A genuine desire to progress within a growing accountancy practice.
