About the Role

We are working with a friendly and growing independent accountancy practice looking to recruit a Semi-Senior Accountant to join their small and supportive team.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with clients and handling a mix of bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and payroll duties.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounts

• Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients

• Prepare and review bookkeeping using software such as Xero, Sage 50, or QuickBooks

• Prepare and submit VAT returns

• Assist with year-end accounts preparation for sole traders and limited companies

• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations

• Assist with management accounts and financial reporting

Payroll

• Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for a portfolio of clients

• Submit RTI reports to HMRC

• Manage pension auto-enrolment submissions

• Handle payroll queries from clients

Client Support

• Liaise directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and payroll matters

• Provide support and guidance on financial processes where required

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working within an accountancy practice

• Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation skills

• Experience processing client payrolls

• Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks

• Good understanding of VAT and HMRC compliance

• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

• Friendly and professional communication skills

Qualifications:

• AAT Level 3 / Level 4 or equivalent experience preferred
