Accountant (Part time)
Location: Salisbury Area
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
Overview
An established and growing accountancy practice is looking to recruit an Accountant to join its expanding team. This is a newly created position offering a varied workload, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to play a key role within a supportive and forward-thinking business.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME clients and acting as a key point of contact
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Producing management accounts, forecasts and financial reports
- Maintaining accounting records and management information
- Advising clients on financial matters and business performance
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with cashflow management and budgeting
- Preparing personal and corporate tax returns
- Supporting payroll and CIS processes
- Handling client queries via telephone, email and face-to-face meetings
- Providing company secretarial support where required
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and tax regulations
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members, including trainees and accounts assistants
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and compliance requirements
- Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client relationships effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members would be advantageous
- Proactive and organised approach with excellent attention to detail
