Bookkeeping Manager

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Taunton that are looking to appoint a Bookkeeping Manager to lead and develop their bookkeeping function.
This is a key role within the practice, offering the opportunity to manage a small team, maintain high standards of client service, and play an important part in the continued growth of the firm.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients and overseeing the bookkeeping team, including:

Managing and reviewing bookkeeping work for a portfolio of clients

Overseeing the preparation and submission of VAT returns

Managing and supporting the bookkeeping team, including workflow planning and review

Acting as a key point of contact for bookkeeping clients

Ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met

Supporting clients with day-to-day queries and cloud accounting software

Assisting with process improvements and best practice within the team

Liaising closely with accounts and tax teams internally
About You
-
Previous experience within an accountancy practice in a bookkeeping or accounts role
-
Experience managing or supervising staff (or ready to step into a managerial role)

Strong knowledge of VAT and bookkeeping processes

Confident using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar software
-
Organised, proactive and client-focused with strong communication skills
