Payroll Senior

A growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Torbay is looking to recruit an experienced Payroll Senior to join its friendly and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with solid payroll experience who enjoys working in a busy practice environment. The role offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) considered for the right candidate.
The Role
As Payroll Senior, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time while providing an excellent level of client service.
Alongside payroll responsibilities, you'll also support the wider accounts team with basic VAT work where required, making this a varied role within a collaborative practice.
Key Responsibilities

Processing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls for a varied client portfolio.

Managing new starters, leavers, statutory payments, pensions and auto-enrolment.

Submitting FPS, EPS and other HMRC payroll submissions.

Responding to payroll-related client queries and providing a high level of customer service.

Ensuring payroll records remain accurate and compliant with current legislation.

Processing pension submissions and maintaining payroll documentation.

Assisting with VAT return preparation and supporting the accounts team during busy periods.

Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:

Previous payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau.

Strong working knowledge of BrightPay.

Some experience preparing or assisting with VAT returns.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and client-facing skills.

The ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
