Tax Assistant - Cardiff

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Assistant / Tax Trainee to join a growing tax team for an Accountancy Practice in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some prior experience in a tax or accountancy role who is looking to further develop their career in taxation.

A great opportunity for candidates working towards professional qualifications such as ATT or CTA with study support available. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparation of personal tax returns (Self Assessment) for a varied client portfolio
• Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns
• Supporting senior team members with tax compliance across multiple tax areas
• Liaising with HMRC on routine queries and correspondence
• Maintaining accurate client records and working papers
• Assisting with basic tax planning work as experience develops
• Meeting deadlines while ensuring compliance with internal procedures and professional standards
• Delivering a professional and responsive service to clients

Experience Required: 

• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Word
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Accountancy practice experience/ studying towards ATT or CTA

• Study support package for ATT or CTA (including fees and exam support)
• Hybrid working: up to 2 days from home (post-probation)
• Flexible working hours (7-hour day between 8am – 6pm, with core hours 10am – 4pm)
• 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + your birthday off
